- Appointment supports continued growth and expansion of Standard Life's Pension Risk Transfer business
- Investment in the PRT team reflects Standard Life’s plan to write larger, more complex transactions
Standard Life has appointed Uzma Nazir to the newly created role of Senior Director, Head of PRT Origination within its Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) business, as it continues to strengthen its capabilities in the growing risk transfer market.
Uzma brings two decades of industry experience, having served on the leadership team that launched Blumont Annuity after spending most of her career at Pension Insurance Corporation where she held a variety of roles. Throughout her career, Uzma has led teams across the full risk transfer process, from business development through to execution and implementation of deals. Over the course of her career, she has been responsible for the delivery of over £20 billion of landmark bulk annuity deals, including the largest buyout transaction to date in the UK.
The appointment follows a busy period for Standard Life’s PRT business with £1.6bn of deals written in the first half the year as well as the launch of its new UK Pension Risk Transfer partnership in August. Backed by up to £2 billion of capital, the partnership enhances Standard Life's ability to support larger and more complex pension schemes while maintaining its focus on delivering strong member outcomes.

The PRT market continues to present significant opportunities, and we're investing in our people and capabilities to ensure we're well placed to support schemes of all sizes. Uzma brings outstanding market knowledge and strong relationships, and her experience in delivering some of the UK's most significant transactions will be a tremendous asset, particularly as we look to capitalise on the opportunity to support the largest, most complex schemes backed by our new partnership.
Uzma Nazir
Standard Life is a trusted brand with a clear ambition for the future. I'm looking forward to working with the team to build on the many strengths of the business, including its ability to support pension schemes of all sizes. The new capabilities created through our PRT partnership are particularly exciting, enabling us to help more schemes navigate complex transaction challenges while continuing to deliver excellent customer outcomes.

These appointments and our continued investment in the team reflect our confidence in the long-term outlook for the PRT market. As demand grows, we remain focused on expanding our capabilities, supporting trustees and sponsors, and delivering positive outcomes for members.
